This important event is organized by The International Society for Trenchless Technology together with German Society for Trenchless Technology that took the decision on organizing the event at the same time with Wasser Berlin International 2011. Capital city of Germany is the perfect place for NO DIG fair, because German trenchless discipline, with its strong position on the European and World market, determines new trends and significantly contributes to popularizing modern technologies. Moreover, it can be seen, that more and more often, contractors from the Middle-East Europe reach for trenchless technologies. Also in Poland, where this discipline develops since the Nineties of the 20th century, these methods are more commonly applied. Share of the trenchless technologies in the global construction market constantly grows, which fact does not surprise considering that they provide almost sole advantages. First of all, they reduce the range of earth works during the construction, renovation or examination of technological condition of any pipelines. Thanks to them, without causing any problems to the road traffic, it is possible to perform necessary repairs of underground infrastructure. Moreover, the long list of advantages is to be complemented with economical, social and ecological benefits because utilization of trenchless technologies enables reduction, comparing to traditional methods, of natural environment damage, nuisances for the society and allows saving time. The trenchless technologies are the future within the scope of underground works, that is why I hope that they shall have increasing share in the investments realized also in Poland.
The discipline changes very fast and it is worth to be in the swim with any novelties. That is why the best way to enlarge one's knowledge, exchange experience and see the most modern equipment, is participation in professional fair, show and conferences devoted to trenchless technologies. There are many events related to this subject, but NO DIG is one of the most important. This year, during the lecture and scientific session, 50 papers shall be presented sent by authors from 16 countries and it shall be possible to see the stands of ca. 180 companies from over 25 countries. Rank of this event causes that we cannot miss it. Once again we participate in this international event, both by publishing in English the special issue of a magazine "Trenchless Engineering" as well as by presentation of our publication at the exhibition stand. While presenting this special publication, we encourage to read the interviews with Samuel Ariaratnam, the president of ISTT, Jens Hölterhoff, the president of GSTT and with Hermann Lübbers, the president of Drilling Contractors Association (DCA-Europe). Fair and conferences concerning the trenchless technologies take place mostly abroad, but in our country, a group of persons interested in this discipline grows also. Thinking about them, we organize the International Conference, Exhibition and Show of Technology "INŻYNIERIA 2011" [ENGINEERING 2011]. This year's edition shall take place within 15-17 June 2011 in Tomaszowice near Cracow (Poland). The event will be organized for the ninth time and as always it will abound with interesting papers and shows, and moreover, there will be a discussion panel for the first time concerning the perspectives of drilling fluids development and RODEO HDD.
